On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Montréal will be TESTING the city’s emergency siren system. During this test, no actions need to be taken.
This is a technical test carried out to ensure the proper working order of equipment, as well as the preparedness of all emergency responders.
The emergency siren sounds off for 3 minutes and is the best way to warn the population of the release of a toxic substance from a nearby factory.
The factory closest to Montreal West is the Lactalis Canada plant on Saint-Jacques street. This siren will sound at 9 a.m. and 9:10 a.m.
Take this opportunity to find out what to do when you hear the emergency siren.
The Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) is entrusted with the review of all building projects subject to the Town’s Site Planning and Architectural Integration Program (SPAIP). The deadline for submitting a complete file application is 2 weeks prior to the PAC meeting.

A whole town full of garage sales with free local musical performances all within Montreal West brought to you by the Montreal West Environmental Action Committee (EAC)!
Saturday, June 1, 2024 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., within Montreal West (Sunday, June 2 in case of rain)
Our goals for this event are to promote sustainability by emphasizing the “Reuse” mantra. By working together, we can increase participation (garage sales); increase foot traffic (customers) and lastly increase a sense of community. All this in conjunction with multiple local musical artists showcasing their talent (in the same spirit as Porchfest).
We hope to achieve a festive atmosphere within the Town. All residents are invited to participate. You have until May 30 to sign up if you want to host a garage sale or musical performance and benefit from having your address on our map.
Whether you’re a homeowner hosting a garage sale or a visitor, we are waiting for you in large numbers: be sure to join in on the fun!
