STANDING COMMITTEES

Public Safety and Awareness Committee (PSAC)

The Town’s Public Safety & Awareness Committee (PSACC), composed primarily of residents from the Town, meets to discuss issues relating to public safety (including, but not limited to, traffic concerns). Please note: any matters specific to traffic concerns (e.g. speed bumps, street signs, parking, directional change) must be submitted in writing to the attention of Mr. Pat Mann, Director of Public Security and Special Projects, at Town Hall. Mr. Mann will, thereafter, where necessary, submit his recommendations to the PSAC and the PSAC will submit its final recommendation (if any) to Town Council for decision. Any other public safety matters (e.g. theft, graffiti, CPR) should also be sent in writing to the attention of Mr. Mann. This process will allow us to thoughtfully consider all concerns raised or proposals submitted by residents.

The committee is chaired by Councillor Dino Mazzone. Current volunteer community members are:

Patrick Mann (Director of Public Security and Special Projets)
René Boucher
Charles Dejean
Randi Weitzner
Melissa Margles

Planning Advisory Committee

A building permit is required for all new constructions, alterations and additions. Alterations include changes to the exterior of a building, demolition, the installation of a swimming pool, antenna, chimney, accessory building, awnings, signs and any other permanents elelment on the outside of the building.  The repair, refection or replacement of elements such as a roof, windows, doors, stairs, balconies, fences or  driveways do not require a permit, so long as their appearence is not modified and the value of the work does not exceed 5 000$.

Where proposed changes affect the exterior of the building, including the replacement of windows, the application is referred to the Montreal West Planning Advisory Committee (PAC) for its review and recommendations. The PAC, composed primarily of residents from the Town, meets once a month on the second-to-last Wednesday of every month. Your proposal must be submitted to the Building Inspector at least one week in advance of the monthly meeting in order to be on the agenda. The process to obtain a permit may take up to one month and a half.

  • Alexandre Watson
  • Jan Davis
  • Michel Aubé
  • Philip Rouben
