Town Planning Committee

The Town of Montreal West has formed a Town Planning Committee composed of Town residents, employees and administrators. The Committee’s mandate is to look over general and specific Planning issues that affect the everyday lives of residents. The Committee intends to determine Planning objectives for the Town affecting land use, the street network, architectural preservation, and quality of live in our neighbourhoods.

Current undertakings of the Committee include: 

  • Distributing, collecting and compiling a community survey to the residents;
  • Assessing the Town’s position on various development pressures in and around Montreal West;
  • Following up on major regional projects affecting Montreal West such as the Turcot Complex, the proposed airport shuttle and the extension of Cavendish Boulevard;
  • Determining how to revitalize the commercial district on Westminster Avenue and how to create a distinct identity in the Town’s centre, reflective of the residents’ needs and concerns;
  • Collaborating with McGill University’s School of Urban Planning in order to generate new ideas for our Town.

The committee is chaired by Counsellor Julie-Tasker Brown.
